HA/Est. Sy/ID. Phantom 2 - Vibrator Control. It is important that 27-EX. chassis when it leaves for France should be fitted with a complete set of material for vibrator control, so that the 10,000 miles standardization test of these parts can be carried out, in anticipation of bringing in this change on R.2. series. It has been necessary at this stage to make room for the vibrator unit and the new distribution board on the Phantom 2 dash. This has been somewhat difficult owing to the limitations imposed by existing features, but we believe we have obtained a satisfactory scheme by mounting the electrical units on a common aluminium base straddling the feature supporting the steering column on the dash, and having extensions for carrying the conduits feeding in the conductors. The aluminium base is provided with a chute for guiding the wires from the flexible conduit bolted to the back face of the dashboard, and carrying the wires into the switchbox. This aluminium casting will require a pattern, and hence the pattern will be urgent. In passing it may be mentioned that the new distribution box includes the accessory wiring at the front of the chassis and disposes of the necessity for the present separate accessory wiring fuse box, which is an economy as well as the simplification in keeping all the fuses together and rendering them more accessible. The dynamo will be similar to the one used on the Bentley, but with the rear end of the armature shaft suitable for coupling up to the magneto drive instead of to the Bentley tachometer drive. The switchbox will be similar to the present Phantom 2 except that since charge will be on all the time, being automatically controlled, the number of switch positions available makes it possible to deal with the magneto without the use of the separate tumbler switch on the left-hand side of the facia board. The engraving on the switchbox will be "off" "L & B" "B" and "M". | ||
