FOUR WHEEL BRAKE SYSTEM. INSTRUCTIONS TO DRIVERS. We consider it is most advisable that when a car has been fitted with 4-wheel brakes, the driver or owner of the car should be taken out on one of these cars by one of our men and given a demonstration of how the brakes should be used and what is likely to happen to the passengers if the power of the brakes is abused. For the driver to appreciate this, he should be asked to ride in the back of the car because the sensation one gets in the back of the car is very different to that when driving the car or even when sitting beside the driver because then one can anticipate to a certain extent what the driver is going to do. The brakes should never be jammed on - if they are, the rear wheels will certainly lock, and the power of the brakes will be reduced. The power of the brakes is so great that the pressure can be applied steadily and by this means the pressure can be adjusted so that the wheels just do not skid which will be at the point of maximum braking. Drivers should be warned as regards the danger of other cars running into the back of the car if the max. braking is applied. He should realise that the back of the 40/50 HP. is a vulnerable part because if the petrol tank is punctured, the pressure feed will fail and the car will not be able to run. Drivers should be warned as regards the dangers contd :- | ||
