Operation 5 Crawl underneath to the back axle again and oil the lubricators and the brake mechanism.

Operation 6 Get out from underneath the car and oil the rollers for the rear springs.

Operation 32 Crawl underneath the car to the rear axle again and oil the joints for the brake ropes.

There are several instances of things like this.

Attached to Mr. Royce's copy of this note is an Instruction Book in which we have made alterations in red ink. This is to give some idea of what we think should be done as regards times for lubrication.

Now we have increased the mileage for overhaul from 20,000 miles to 50,000 miles, it is only reasonable that we should extend the time for attention on other parts.

We believe a lot more harm than good is done by us being over-careful in the instructions for lubrication of the car; we demand so much that nothing at all is done. For some time past now, we have lubricated experimental cars to the figures given in the Book we have altered. If Mr. Royce is in agreement we could co-operate with Mr. Walker and submit fresh Instructions for Lubrication.
