Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ----------------- E.1/HP.21.4.32. ----------------- re Low Inertia Crankshaft Dampers. --------------------------------- This is to confirm conference this morning with yourself and MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} that modifications to the 20/25 low inertia damper will be brought in as soon as possible to reduce the clearance between the saw steel disc and the bore of the flywheel to .004/.006 on the diameter, leaving the cotton ducks unaltered and with their present clearances for spreading action. Also that the pressure plate will be made with the same minimum clearance but a larger tolerance. Further that attention will be drawn both on the arrangement drawing and by general instruction to the importance of assembling the ducks concentrically in the wheel. Also that these alterations should apply also to the Phantom II Dampers, but that the clearances should be larger pro rata. In the case of the 20/25 an instruction should be circulated to assemble the wheel by tightening the hub bolts and not the rim bolts. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
