X-967 X 4117 BJ(Py)12/DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}4.11.20. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. Re. Sir John Leigh, Newport. Chassis no. 2060E - Report no. 1951 --------------------------------- The following is an extract from PRS3/TB/3.11.20 (Memorandum No. 1951):- "The timing wheels of the engine are inclined to sing. The engine at present is being lubricated with Castor oil, with the result that , when cold, it was extremely stiff to pull round and produced a good deal of vibration until warm. The driver is going to replace this with "Price's Motorine "C". The springing is said to be very "good, but the leaves would be better for being greased". BJ(Py).
