Report on tool for removing the spring ring which retains the sliding locking piece of Dunlop detachable wheels. X. 1070. This tool consists of a long shouldered stud G.3425, a cup washer and a nut. The whole weighs 4 ozs. The object of the tool is to hold the spring so as to enable one to easily remove the spring ring from the groove in the hub and so allow the locking piece to be withdrawn. The oil plug has first to be removed from the centre of the cap and the stud fixed in its place. The only point that needs watching is that when slacking back the nut (after removing the spring ring) that the stud does not screw out of the cap. It may be necessary to hold the squared end of the stud with a spanner while the nut is being screwed back. The tool is quite suitable for its purpose. | ||
