IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR ROTORS. X8783dw

Referring to Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/NRC{N. R. Chandler}3/KW.11.5.28, the two rotors which have been handed to us now make five in all which have been brought to our notice as failures on customers' cars. So far as we know, therefore, it can be said that there are less than half a dozen cases.

To overcome this trouble, the mushroom type rotor was designed, and 10,000 mile tests on this are in progress on various chassis as follows :-

40/50 H.P. Chassis.

10-GIII. 3000 (to 30.9.27).

A report on the improved action of this, as compared with the ordinary rotor, when the H.T. delivery is open circuited was given in our EFC1/T22.10.27. It will be seen therefore that we are well on the way to a point at which a standardisation sheet can be circulated for this item.

We intend doing a prolonged open circuit test of this type of rotor to see if tracking takes place sufficiently badly to cause the rotor to fail to function when the H.T. circuit is again made.
