20 HP. ROAD SPRING LUBRICATION.

The scheme used on these springs was F.56844.
The advantage of this scheme is that it allows the inside of the bush carrying the oil through the rolled eye to be swaged over, and we think that it is the scheme which we shall adopt on the 40/50 when we get the other features on the rolled eye spring satisfactory.

The lubrication of the springs off 14-G4 at the conclusion of the 10,000 miles test was excellent, except that the bottom three leaves were dry.

We think that with advantage, on both 40/50 and 20 HP., the lubrication holes and grooves might be carried down a further leaf.

We think that the 20 HP. springs should have the flexible leaf tips on the same lines as those on the 40/50 as the bedding is not nearly as good as that at present being obtained on Phantom ll.
