X8940a X3775 We have received a set of the Dunlop wheels with well-based rims which will be fitted to this car. When the 6 wheels are carried on the car, there is a saving in weight of 114 lbs. We find however, to fit these wheels to an existing Phantom car, it is necessary to modify the present cross steering lever. Since we have done away with the flange on the front brake drums, there is no reason why the cross steering levers should not be made shorter and therefore lighter. We have started a standardization sheet to revert to the original type of cross steering lever. These were run 10,000 miles and tested out on the bumping rig. The steel trunnion for the steering box is now practically complete. These were originally instructed in mild steel and have since been altered to C.H.N.S. We are fitting the C.H.N.S. ones to 8-EX car. It would appear that it will be the end of the week before this car will be ready for us to bring to WW. We will let you know later the exact date. | ||
