AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING
All valve and timing motions; magnetos; carburettors; chain-drives; lubricating systems; springs; shafts; clutches; tyre-testing; intake manifolds; lubrication problems; gear noises; etc.

AVIATION.
Flutter; propeller deflection; speed checking at a distance; speed setting; tachometer corrections; co-ordinating; distant observing of propellers in wing cars; etc.

TEXTILE.
Timing and synchronisation of spindles; detection and correction of bent or eccentric spindles; slow-motion observation and speed checking of bobbins, travellers, needles, and all high-speed operations.
Testing of banding; belting compounds, lubricants, tachometers—and elimination of vibration, power losses, etc.

ARTIFICIAL SILK.
Speed checking at a glance of all shafts, spinning boxes, reelers, etc.; setting spinning boxes to one common standard of speed.

ELECTRICAL.
Direct observation and measurement of load slip of A.C. Motors, speed checking and setting; immediate calibration of resistances; vibrations; shaft whip; meter-testing; cable winding; electric welding; spark-gap discharges; emanations of neon tubes, etc.

INDUSTRIAL.
Production speeds; behaviours of small tools, grinders, etc.; air-spindle speeds up to 50,000 per minute; centrifugals; disintegrators; separators; sewing machines; tyre-testers; efficiency of oils and belt dressings; paper-mill machinery; printing machines; cigarette machines; milling machinery; locomotives, clockwork mechanisms and model engineering; gramophone testing; telegraph instruments; cinematograph projectors, talking films; radio developments; etc.

PHYSICS.
Speeds and behaviours of moving objects in sealed glass chambers; liquid jets; passage of gases and dust-laden air moving along ducts; flickering of gas jets; movement of tuning forks and vibrating cords; air waves in organ-pipes; speed of sound; fatigue tests on metals and fabrics; human movements; insect wing motion; dynamical balancing; study of wind-waves; blood flow; magnetic movements; etc.
