605 To HFS. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. C. RRC. C. Ry/MS. C. RRC/DWR. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.11/MH.{M. Huckerby}16.1.39. WRAITH BONNET SIDE STRIP. Referring to HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}6/VS.{J. Vickers}12.1.39 and Ry/MS.10/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 10.1.39, we entirely agree with the idea of welded side strips and rest angles, but consider 5,000 miles running in this country insufficient testing for this feature, in view of the duty of bracing wings and locating radiator which these pieces have to do. We will, however, subject a set of welded strips to a bumper test on the bump chassis, if HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} will fit same as soon as possible, and if satisfactory will then agree to standardization of these pieces.
