Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

Dear Robotham,

For next season, or fairly soon, we anticipate changing over to Single Helical Geared Gearboxes.

I have driven in a number of your Bentley products, and have been struck by the complete silence of each gear in your gearbox.

If I am not asking too much, I should in consequence much like to know the processes by which you produce such silent gears, so that I can consider the matter in our new layouts for producing our own boxes when the question arises.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely,

G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} SAVAGE
