We recommend Ferobestos, the lining we have standardised on Phantom II should be used for replacements as it is less liable to squeak. We consider that it will only be necessary to use this on the front brakes of Phantom I cars. Additionally, squeaking can be very largely influenced by avoiding certain varieties of brake bedding. We are circulating a depot sheet giving information on this point. Fabric coupling failures. We understand that these are not reported unless they fail at a low mileage. Cricklewood tell us that in their case this is so. We know that if the couplings can be rivetted satisfactorily they will last twice as long as those built up by the present methods. In your opinion, is this feature of the car unsatisfactory? If so it might be worth trying to get satisfactory rivetting. Shock absorber Knocks. These appear to be almost as prevalent on the 40/50 as the 20 HP. If so, they should be treated on the | ||
