Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.10/AP. 14th May 1937 E.A.Bayles Esq., British Insulated Cables Ltd., HELSBY Dear Mr.Bayles, Referring to the trouble which we have been experiencing recently with high tension cable supplied by your goodselves, we recently submitted a sample of the cable to our friends Messrs Joseph Lucas, and a report on their tests in the Laboratory informs us that the cable compares favourably with their own, (which your Mr.Britland told us was identical to ours with the exception of diameter), apart from the ozone test in which it was definitely inferior. The two samples we submitted failed in five or six minutes as compared with 20 minutes for their own cable. This is a striking confirmation of our own tests and proves that we have been receiving inferior quality cable recently from your Company, even inferior to the cable which you supplied to Messrs Joseph Lucas. I thought you would be interested to have these facts before you in order that you can deal suitably with the situation. Yours sincerely, | ||
