Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} GOSHAWK & 40/50 ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. x4165 x4338 Referring to the condition of running the dynamo without the battery it should be remembered that the scheme of the Goshawk is no worse than the 40/50 has always been, the only variation being that the charging switch is combined with other switches, and therefore more tempting and liable to be incorrectly used. Our schemes are no different to those of other makers except the odd few who are using vibrator regulators. These vibrator regulators however are still considered by us to be a source of trouble. Regarding running the lights direct from a third brush dynamo I should not attempt this myself, and to try to give any useful instructions to others is I think impossible. Regarding the incorrect use of the charging switch should the battery be disconnected or out of working order, I suggest as a precaution we affix a plate on the instrument board as follows:- W A R N I N G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} DISCONNECT DYNAMO WIRES SHOULD ENGINE BE RUN WITH- OUT BATTERY CONNECTED AND IN WORKING ORDER. This will protect (1) Battery ignition, (2) the lights, and (3) the dynamo itself and it's accessories. Kindly include these instructions as concisely as possible in the instruction book.
