EXPERIMENTAL IGNITION COIL TEST PROGRAMME.
(1) Previous to start:- Coil in question put on car, cells and wires arranged by front passenger and observer to enable ignition voltage changes to be effected whilst running.
(2) Run car as required for routine test for approx one hour. This will heat up ignition system.
(3) Check ignition performance at all speeds and conditions and at various voltages (changed while running). No need to stop car. Time taken 30 minutes approx., of which only 5 to 10 minutes at low speeds.
(4) Run normally again (i.e. without taking observations) for another hour.
(5) Repeat test (3).
(6) Stop to change coil 5 minutes.
(7) Repeat above for each coil.
Three coils are required to be tested as above and one running day will probably be sufficient.
