FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} C. to BJ. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SECRET DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M21.1.28. SPORTS SALOONS. We have permission to go ahead at Barker's with designs for a sports saloon on the Alpine Phantom. We are proposing to work out a quarter scale drawing of the structure and suspension, as we did for the open cars. Much of the work done for these first cars will apply to the saloon. At the meeting (BJ. C. SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} & EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}) Sales were convinced that as they might wish to use this body for trials and other purposes, it had better be the four light type which they say is the most popular. Under these circumstances it was thought not wise to press for six lights. We have arranged with Sales to get under way with a body for the Super Sports EAC. 10., and as this is apparently first coming before the public as a sporting chassis we suggest that we go ahead with designs for a saloon for the first experimental car having six lights such as the one which we sent to you for Phantom. If we had these bodies going through in parallel it would save a lot of time in supervision. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
