Work on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III, which must take preference, is as follows :-

(35) Tyre Noise. We have got to continue our investigation on tyre noise since we have received no effective help from America. We want to run the Cadillac with solid shackles - Smith should instruct these. We should try mounting SpectreCodename for Phantom III I body on rubber to see if this removes the remainder of the tyre noise. The red SpectreCodename for Phantom III will of course be tested when it comes out of the shop. An exact report should be made on both the Buick and the Packard with regard to this problem. We should also find out whether we can make the Buick bed. Whyman should issue a report on body isolation possibilities as exemplified by last tests on drums.

(36) Gearbox. Smith should concentrate on this. It appears to me that we are not trying enough experiments on the boxes available. We ought to instruct stiffer cones as well as cones with less width, and I think we should also combine smaller cone angle with stiffer cones.

(37) Hydraulic Tappets. Swindall should point out to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} the machining defects of these tappets. He should also arrange to try a fine gauze filter in place of the Tecalemit type which is causing the choking up of the feed valves. We think that a double gauze filter on the lines of the one fitted to the A.C. petrol pump would be ideal. Will Steadman please instruct immediately. We should like an explanation as to why the orifices choke up so easily on Hancock's car.

(38) High Speed Valve Noise. Dodd and Swindall - As soon as we have a car available we want to go over the high speed noise on the drums again. We have close clearance plungers and close clearance valves to test. If the noise still persists after trying both these, we want to see what can be done by noise-insulating round the valve gear, as on the Bentley. I believe the rocker cover is in magnesium on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III, which may magnify the trouble.
