Performance and production quality analysis of a Bentley, comparing it to a Phantom and a Chrysler.

| contd :- -4- PERFORMANCE. The performance of the car, which we understand weighed 50 cwts., was about equal to that of the standard Phantom. We checked the speedometer by the watch and against that of 10-EX. It was 5 m.p.h. fast at 60 m.p.h. It appeared to have a characteristic of error increasing rapidly with speed. This confirms the fact that Bentleys are continuing to fit speedometers that are hopelessly optimistic and so maintaining their reputation for speed. This car shewed 84 m.p.h. by speedometer and actually perhaps did 74 m.p.h. CONCLUSION: In production, Bentleys seem to be failing badly. We do not consider the chassis compares in any way with that of the Chrysler. We have recently tried an Imperial Chrysler, it was a very good motorcar.
