Dear Mr. Connolly,

We are going into the question of light body work for one of our models, and I should be glad to have your advice with reference to the leather.

I understand that thin hides are used on aircraft, and it has been suggested that something similar might be used for cars. If thin hides are used, I take it that the life of the leather would be considerably shortened.

Thin hide would be unsatisfactory for plain trimming and only suitable for pleated cushions and squabs. If you think that thin hides would be satisfactory can you give me any idea what the saving in weight per hide of 50 feet would be compared with the average Vaumol hide. Any advice that you can give me on this matter I should appreciate.

Hoping that you are well, and with kind regards.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE, LTD.,
