Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}4/CH.18.4.40. 18th April 1940. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Chapel-en-le-Frith, STOCKPORT. Dear Sirs, FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. SHILTON. ------------------------------- Referring to the recent communications regarding pulley wear and belt noise, we are sending you herewith the following drawings:- RD.487 - Dynamo pulley. RD.4998 - Crankshaft pulley. RD.4999 - Fan pulley. We should be very interested to have your comments regarding the possibility of making up these pulleys in sheet Bakelite, and if you consider these to be feasible we should very much like you to proceed with the job. Regarding the pressed steel, cast iron and aluminium pulleys which we promised to send you we are experiencing great delay in having chassis pieces made due to pressure of war work, and we must apologise for not having been able to send them on yet. The job is being urged as much as possible, however, and as soon as they come to hand we will send them on. You will be interested to know that we recently encountered another example of belt squeaking on pressed steel pulleys. Working on past information we changed these pulleys to cast iron retaining the original belt and squeaking appears to have become considerably worse. We are rather at a loss to understand this as the belt was comparatively new and we do not think it - continued - | ||
