4560 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}16/KW.21.10.35. Steering on Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s Car - Chassis GUB-5. Now that low rating springs have been fitted to the above car, the steering has become so bad as to be unsafe. We wish to fit the SpectreCodename for Phantom III type Marles gear removed from 21-G-IV after the correction to the bearing cone angles. The above gear is at present built up to suit 21-G-IV which is 'F' type, while GUB-5 is 'E' type. We shall therefore require a new pendulum lever (standard length 8.250") to suit 'E' type and the holes in the circular flange of the rockershaft housing will have to be elongated slightly. GUB-5 at present has a side steering tube longer than standard. We shall therefore require a new side steering tube to suit SpectreCodename for Phantom III steering on 25 HP. Will you please make the necessary pieces as soon as possible and fit the gear. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.J.Hardy. | ||
