THE NATIONAL PHYSICAL LABORATORY TEDDINGTON Leads. THE NATIONAL PHYSICAL LABORATORY, TEDDINGTON REPORT ON STEAM JOINTING MATERIALS SENT FOR TEST BY Messrs. Wills Pressure Filled Joint Ring Limited. To Boiler & Superheater To Pressure Gauge Platinum Resistance Thermometer Drain Cock Drain JOINT RING Radial holes Drain Cock Drain ARRANGEMENT OF JOINT BLOWING-OUT APPARATUS. 16 The illustration on page 4 shows a demonstration of the WILLS JOINT RING in a steam line carrying 150 lbs. pressure. For this demonstration, the flange bolts were slacked back till the steam blew copiously, as shown in Fig. 1. Then a weight of 28 lbs. was attached to a standard 5/8" engineer's spanner, and this load applied to the bolt gave sufficient torque to tighten up the joint to the condition clearly shown in Fig. 2. This demonstration test has been carried out considerably over 100 times with the same joint ring, the same load being applied, and the same results being obtained in each individual test. 5 to 15 / 1000 AN APPLICATION OF THE WILLS PRESSURE FILLED JOINT RING. 5 | ||
