Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Robotham, In the course of tests, we find, as would be expected, that the rigidity of the brake drum is a very important factor in determining the pedal travel. This is particularly the case with two leading shoe brakes, in fact a drum which is quite satisfactory with ordinary brakes will show up very badly when two leading shoe brakes are fitted. This being the case, we suggest it is desirable that we carry out dynamometer tests with the actual drum to be used on the vehicle. This would eliminate one item which might give us trouble on the road. Would it therefore be possible for you to make and lend to us an 11" drum of the type you propose to use? We should also be glad if you would advise us when we may expect some castings from the Wheel Cylinder Pattern we sent you, and also when it would be convenient cont'd....
