To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} BY‡ E1/M25.6.26. RE. PHANTOM EXHAUST VALVES AND SELF IGNITION. X.8060 X.699 X.8230 Regarding the above question please note Mr. Royce would like you to obtain some Phantom exhaust valves made in 'Ochromite', referred to in memo. OY1/E2126. We have not the catalogue of this material to hand at the moment, but the analysis is as follows :- Nickel 30 to 35%. Copper 57 to 59%. Chromium 3.2 to 3.7% Manganese 2.3 to 2.6% OY. would no doubt obtain these for us. The object of this experiment would be to endeavour to obtain a valve in material having a higher co-efficient of heat conductivity which would run at a temperature below the temperature of self ignition of the mixture‡ E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
