| F.DODD. 304 Sq. and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} E.7/HP.6.11.36. re Phantom III Coachwork. I am attaching herewith a copy of the third report from LA.{L. A. Archer} in connection with the above. You will note that he has now obtained confirmation that the weight of the strengthening pieces we recommend for Phantom III coachwork does not exceed 1/2 cwt. With reference to Hoopers experiment of building a body without the ironing recommended, their bodies already average about 1 cwt more than Park Ward, so that it is evident they put in weight elsewhere, and unfortunately therefore this body will not be comparable with any of our experimental bodies. One of the most interesting points about this report is the difference between the total weight including all accessories, and the weight as tested, amounting on the average to 2 cwts. This rather suggests that more effort if possible should be directed towards obtaining light accessories.
