E.W.Hives, Esq., Messrs.Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Handwritten notes: GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} See me Dear Mr.Hives, Mr.Hancocks was down here yesterday. We went very thoroughly into all matters concerning petrol pumps, and I think that things are now on a satisfactory basis. There is one matter we discussed and came to no decision upon and that is the aluminium washers which are fitted under the various unions, to your specification. Mr.Hancocks agreed that these cause a lot of trouble, owing to the difficulty in making an air tight joint, causing in many cases the scrapping of the unions, on account of having to put such a lot of pressure on them to tighten them down sufficiently. Moreover, we find that on the pumps returned to us under guarantee as being 'noisy', in a large number of cases this is due to air leaks under the above mentioned washers. Since Mr.Hancocks left we have been discussing the matter further, and I would suggest that a C. & A.{Mr Adams} washer would do the trick. What do you think? Yours sincerely, [Signature] Handwritten notes (bottom): Can we use smaller dia Alum with increased depth. As C&A prefer former B24 | ||
