Y3438 Md. from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Mr Shelton. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. HP. c. OPL. c. D/BP. BY6-P21.7.22. 40/50 CHASSIS. FAN. X3438 X3735 As a result of a series of tests which have been tried, it has been decided that we shall use the half link type of Whittle Belt for the Fan Drive, as well as the Dynamo on the above chassis. The difficulty at the moment is, that we get a very pronounced "drumming" noise with the present belts, which the half link belt practically eliminates. In order to obtain the advantage we are seeking without delay, we should use fan belts made up from dynamo belts, and in the meantime the C.O. should approach the Whittle Co, to replace the standard type of belt which we are using, with half link belts. This, I think, would be a reasonable proposition from the Whittle Belt peoples point of view, since the one we wish to exchange is the standard type, for which they have a good demand. The Works should note that no more cars should be despatched with the old type of belt, if there are dynamo belts in the works to meet requirements. The Test Dept, will require a dozen of these belts for despatch to Lillie Hall to meet urgent cases of chassis which are almost completed with bodies. Will D/BP, kindly take an order number out to cover the above, booking it against A.T.D. policy. MANCHESTER ENGRAVING CO. LTD. | ||
