xvrrsza To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Hotel de France. Chateauroux. Indre. 3/8/33 I. B. IV. Further tests with the pump delivery during last night and this morning shows that we were down in efficiency and that by getting the correct position of the diaphragm we have improved the delivery from 95 pts per hr. to 112.5 pts per Hr. These tests are taken with the car hot, as a considerable difference is made when the petrol is cold. We note during the high engine revs. the efficiency of the pump must be considerably lessened due to the vapour in the petrol being drawn in the pipe lines. Now that we have got the pump as efficient as we can make it we are again trying the standard pipe lines on dash and filter in its original position. We are enclosing figures of the delivery of the pump. [Signature: G.W. Hancock] G.W.H. We have carried out further tests on the road with the improved efficient pump i.e. 112.5 pts per Hr. 4000 engine revs with the standard pipes and filter in original position. The engine cut out at high speed, but started up again as the car was on the point of stopping. The same thing happened after stopping for petrol, the engine stopped but picked up as the car rolled along. We have therefore reverted to our scheme of piping and filter position. | ||
