The sticking of the tappets has gradually got worse on this engine until we found on one cylinder, they were sticking even when the engine was hot.

In order to keep the engine running, we have dismantled the engine and are arranging to fit washers between the collar on the tappets and the Crankcase.
We expect the tappets to bed on the taper at the same time as they bed on the collar.

Tests with the oscilloscope show that the valves leave their seats at 2500 revs; for any speeds above this, we shall need stronger valve springs.
