FROM BENTON & STONE LTD., CONTINUED. DATE July 16th 1931. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. No.3. the 1/8" gas size is very simple, and has no cross drilling, pinning, etc, and is far more efficient nipple in our opinion, and we recommend this in preference to all others, and think it would be a great saving to your goodselves if same could be adopted as standard throughout your Chassis. Up to the present we have manufactured all the Nipples for your Chassis exactly in accordance with the Hexagons at present used on your Grease Cups, but we should be glad to have your remarks on this point. As we previously pointed out, with a smaller hexagon in the case of these Connector Nipples would be equally good, and if anything slightly neater. With reference to the 6 Sets you require for immediate use. You will understand we feel sure that the manufacture of these becomes practically a hand made job, and we are therefore bound to quote you an extra cost for these sets. We have however, cut same as fine as possible, and should be pleased to supply these 6 sets @ 25/- per set nett. This price does not include the Dust Caps, but same are however Standard, and these we could get through at the previous quantity price quoted, viz:- 7/6d per Set nett extra. As pointed out in ours of July 13th, with a view to saving any unnecessary delay, we have actually started on these Sets, and could finish same off in about 3 days after your confirmation. You do not however, mention if you require a Grease Gun with each set, but there would be no delay in this direction. If you require same our price for the Grease Gun complete with Flex and new pattern Valve & Nozzle, exactly as sample left with your goodselves, is 18/8d each nett. We are pleased to say that we have completely overcome the tendency of the ball to crush down in the nipple with the pressure of grease. This has been done by incorporating a slightly stronger spring, and all future Nipples will have a stronger spring fitted. On receipt of your reply the matter shall have our immediate attention. Yours faithfully, BENTON & STONE LTD. [Signature] Director. Enc. Print. | ||
