action being taken when changing over to the magneto ignition. We have also traced faults of the distributor box due to faulty connections, as we have found the terminals "come" loose, which we suspect is due to the action of the temperature on the insulating material, which we feel has been largely overcome by the fixing of spring washers over these various connections.
We feel that more attention should be given to the importance of locking the various electrical fittings in this distribution box, as we have a number of cases where the coils and the bobbins have become loose, also other cutout fittings which have been such as to affect the cutting in position of these cutouts.

In dealing with the above, we would again refer you to our original report on this matter, reference EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}11/H10.10.22.

Further to paragraph 4, re Dynamos - I am also alarmed at the condition the commutator and brush gear get into after the dynamo has been in service for some time, and we have today returned a dynamo off 49-G-7 which has been returned by one of our inspectors in London who has had to deal with the customer's complaint. He reports as follows:-
"As you are aware, we have had several complaints from the owner of this car regarding the dynamo not cutting in. We fitted the new switch box sent down by you and we tested the car and found it to be perfectly satisfactory. Since then the cutting in of the dynamo has been intermittent and we have had on several occasions to send down to look into this in each case when we arrived the dynamo was charging The driver informs me he has frequently to clean the carbon dust off the commutator.
In view of the above I have fitted a dynamo off another chassis and am returning the old dynamo to you for examination. I shall be glad if you will have it put in order and returned to me at the earliest date so that I can replace it."
