Lucas Wind Tone Horns.

We have had supplied to us by Messrs. Lucas for some considerable time, horns with slots behind the trumpet flare. These slots were placed there by Messrs. Lucas with a view to preventing the horns failing when the front gauze became blocked with snow.

These slots do not prevent the horns failing in the presence of heavy rain or mist.

As we consider this modification is of value when driving in snow, we have asked them to place the slots on all horns delivered to us, and we shall be glad if By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} would arrange for our horn drawing to show these slots behind the trumpet flare.

Experiments are now proceeding with the new type Lucas W.T.13, which is considerably better from the point of view of failure in heavy mist and rain, but it is considered that the slots behind the flare are an interim modification worth having.
