To Ex. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.J. " " RH.{R. Hollingworth} " " H.S. " " EFC. " " BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X-3786 ORIGINAL RE "BUZZARD" CHASSIS. We send you herewith drawing No. Lec.1238 shewing the general arrangement of the "Buzzard" chassis. This arrangement is not yet in a complete state, but it is sent at this stage for the purpose of illustrating the general layout of the frame and its cross members, brake and pedal gear, etc., and to enable you to make full scale schemes dealing with the various parts of the chassis. Modifications will be required possibly in respect to the amount of length given for the bonnet. Owing to extra length required for the valve gear at the rear end and the wheelcase at the front end of the engine, it may be necessary to move the dashboard further to the rear. Another point is that owing to the adoption of a some-what larger flywheel, with perhaps an aluminium case around it for protecting the starting gear, the pedals shewn will require some modification for the purpose of obtaining clearance between the clutch pedal stem, and the flywheel. We are continuing to work on the remaining information required for the chassis arrangement, and will send you this in due course. Would you kindly let us have a blue print as early as possible of Lec.1238. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [STAMP: RECEIVED MAY 26 1920 EFC] | ||
