OY2.R.6.8.28 Mr Olived X3575 June 8th, 1928. This may be of interest to you AC TO: Mr. Beaver cc - Mr. Nadin ✓ Mr. Ainsworth Mr. Burton FROM: Mr. Olley Mr. Caswell BRAKES Re Westinghouse Vacuum Booster June 25/28 (Dewandre System) Mr. Cassler called June 6th with Mr. Bartlett of the local agency and explained the working of the device by means of a sectioned model. The operation of the device itself is undoubtedly good and its installation is easier than the B.K. We have a fairly good scheme in development for application to L.H. Drive Silver Ghost cars, and I believe the cost will justify its use in preference to the R.{Sir Henry Royce} R.{Sir Henry Royce} full servo. Installation on R.H. Silver Ghosts or on 4 speed left-hand conversions will be more difficult, but a preliminary study shows no serious difficulties. However I still believe we should list the R.R. full servo as the most desirable change for the reasons already stated and that we should study means of making a reasonable price on it. As a result of the interview I am convinced that we must by every means in our power prevent the Westinghouse branches or agencies making such installations, either on two or four-brake cars. The mechanical abortions by which these instruments are being grafted on existing car designs are a disgrace to any concern of the reputation of the Westinghouse Air Brake Co. OY. r/ | ||
