To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lov.{Mr Lovesey} ORIGINAL Ha/Lov.{Mr Lovesey}5/MJ.3.6.31. SINGLE CARBURETTERS FOR JAPAN 1. X.5080. In reply to your memo of the 2nd.inst., we do not think it is at all necessary in the case of the car engines to take the petrol supply for the low speed jet from the diffuser. In our carburetters in the Vee we have found this necessary in order to help to weaken off the mixture at full throttle but we have not found this pronounced richening tendency in the car carburetters. It would appear to be quite satisfactory to take the low speed petrol direct from the float chamber and we should recommend this procedure if it renders the design more suitable.
