Attached is copy of a report on an endurance test which we ran on the Marine type big ends some little time ago. These bearings had done 80 hours development work before they were subjected to an endurance test and though one bearing eventually failed after 25 hours' running, we consider the results indicate that the Marine type rod ought to stand up to 15,000 miles in France without giving any trouble. We are about to start a test with the strap type rods and white metal bearings similar to those that failed in France, and get an endurance figure for these. Unfortunately it is not much good sending Marine type big ends out to Hancock to run, because we doubt whether his main bearings will last much longer.
