Packard MOTOR CAR COMPANY NEW YORK, N.Y., U.S.A. Rappresentante per l'Italia Alberto Chiesa MILANO 17 VIA BOCCACCIO TELEF. 13161 M.D. MAR RECEIVED DESCRIPTION OF A "NIPPLE" FIXED TO AUTOMOBIL MOTORS IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE DEPRESSION IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. ========================= The nipple seen in the drawing is at normal scale, the rest of the drawing is a scheme. Fig.I is a schematic drawing of a system to feed explosion motors with petrol trough a normal type of vacuum feed. Fig.II is a schematic drawing, in bigger scale, showing the same assembly as in fig.I but provided with the device, forming the object of our patents, in one different shape of his construction. In order to be clear the drawing shows the section. Referring to fig.I the intake manifold 1 of the motor 2 is connected with the carbureter 3, which through the pipe 4 is connected to the vacuum feed 5, the petrol arriving to it through pipe 6 connected with the main tank 7. The difference between the assembly of fig.I and that of fig.II is the fact that in fig.I the vacuum tank 5 is directly connected with the intake manifold 1 through pipe 8, whilst in fig. II the above mentioned pipe 8, coming from the vacuum tank 5 is connected with the small pipe socket 9, which is screwed in the intake manifold and is forming the thinnest end of the trumpet 10, closed by the plate 11, supplied with different holes 12. These holes correspond exactly in size and number with the holes 13 drilled in the cover 14, which turns around a pin 15 fixed on the center of the plate 11. You can easely turn the cover using the handle 16 and put the holes 12 in correspondence with the holes 13. You establish this way, a comunication between the atmosphere and the inside of the trumpet 10. This comunication may be cut by turning the handle and consequently covering the holes. | ||
