9.B.V.Gear Box in 30.G.VII Chassis.

Failure of 2nd Motion Shaft.

This box has run 202 miles on road test, and 129 hours 5 minutes on Dynamometer, which consisted of 1 hour 2,000 r.p.m. 1st gear, full throttle with 720 lbs lift, 9 hours 2,000 r.p.m. 2nd gear, 530 lbs/lift, and 15 hours 50 mins. 2,000 r.p.m. full throttle 2nd gear, 540 lbs lift when 2nd speed driver gear shed 2 teeth. The box then ran 100 hours on overdrive at 2,000 r.p.m full throttle 310 lbs lift and 3 hours 15 mins on 1st gear 2,000 r.p.m. with 2nd gear load of 540 lbs, the constant mesh gear on 2nd Motion Shaft then shed 3 teeth as shewn on the attached photograph.
