Many thanks for your notes.

We have been investigating overoiling on SpectreCodename for Phantom III II. On this car we have proved that it is not top overoiling, but is rather passing the pistons. It disappears if we cut down the main oil pressure. However, the reduction of the oil pressure is not permissible.

The overoiling is confined to two or three cylinders. We are therefore forced to the conclusion that it is distortion of the liners.

We have done some experiments on loss of oil from the rear main bearing. We find that on SpectreCodename for Phantom III II there is definitely about 6" of water positive pressure in the clutch pit, and only about 1" positive pressure in the crankcase. On this car there is little or no leak from the rear bearing. If your car gives the same results it is difficult to see why oil should be lost at this point.

On your engine you have the additional oil feed to the camshaft. The impression here is that this may have something to do with the oil leak from the rear bearing, though I personally cannot see that it can have any bearing on the subject. The additional oil feed to the camshaft has not done much good, and therefore you can remove it for a test if you like, but you could with advantage replace it afterwards.
