X.3420 To EH. from Mr. Bellringer. 13.2.19. RE 3-SPEED AND 4-SPEED GEAR BOXES. X.3426 Concerning the above I fully endorse Mr. Platford's remarks regarding our customer's opinions on the matter. I have recently received endless enquiries from customers who have wished to change from 3-speed to 4-speed boxes, especially in cases where a customer has owned both types, thus showing the superiority of the 4-speed over the 3-speed. They point out that it is much easier to change speed with the 4-speed box, and also the 3rd. gear is such a great advantage on hills which are hardly possible on top gear. I quite think that if the customers were canvassed, practically 100% would vote in favour of 4-speeds, and the great majority would definitely refuse to return to a 3-speed model. Sgd. G.E.
