Please quote our reference: S.l. 26th January, 1937. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Attention of Mr. S.N. Grylls. Dear Sirs, JACKALL. Replying to yours of yesterday's date, Ref. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}13/R.{Sir Henry Royce}, and further to our telephonic conversation of this afternoon, might we explain that when we discussed the subject of the above at Olympia you mentioned that you would give us an opportunity of taking care of your requirements if we could supply you with satisfactory jacks which were interchangeable with our competitor's. We regret that it has been necessary to claim your kind indulgence. Although we were under the impression that our jacks could be utilized in your brackets, it was ascertained on receipt of the latter that this was not possible and we have had to make up both our own brackets and jacks. These jacks would have been delivered to you some two or three weeks since but for the fact that we have found great difficulty in obtaining springs permitting of the stipulated lift, i.e. 18" which, if the writer's information is correct, is 2 1/2" in excess of our competitor's jack. | ||
