BENTLEY STANDARDISATION of PARTS.

Description of Parts: BIG END BEARING BUSH & CONNECTING ROD.
Origin: To avoid excessive oil consumption in conjunction with drilling an extra hole in each crankpin to overcome bearing siezure.
Report of Experimental Test:
A standardisation sheet has been issued for 2 holes in each crankpin so that if 2 feed holes are retained in the big end bush, the oil jet hole is fed 4 times/rev. From experience we know that the jet of oil has an adverse effect on oil consumption. This sheet is to standardise a single centre hole in the bearing bush, thus the rod will be fed 2 times/rev. as existing standard. Accordingly the groove in the con. rod becomes unnecessary and can be deleted.
