BENTLEY MAIN BEARINGS.

Referring to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}1/MJ.16.11.37, we omitted to state the Casting Temperature which Hl. agreed should be 690°C. - 710°C.

Mr. Wheeler has recommended that the Heat Treatment Furnace should be placed in his Department so that Bearings can be Heat Treated before being sent to the Factory. This would be satisfactory since Hl. states that the subsequent Heat Treat after rough machining is unnecessary but we must have definite instructions on this point before any action is taken regarding the installing of the Heat Treatment Plant in the Die Casting Department.

In the meantime we have requested Mr. Wheeler to go into the question of what equipment would be required in the event of Hl. confirming that the Heat Treatment on the Casting pots is sufficient.

When considering the above it would no doubt be advisable to bear in mind the centrifugal casting process for bearings which if introduced and accepted it will in that case be advisable for the equipment for heat treatment to be in the Die Casting Section.
