1163 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 4th October, 1937. Cambridge Instrument Company, Ltd., CAMBRIDGE. For the attention of Mr. C.C. Mason. Dear Sirs, Mr. Paul Dykes brought back the sideways accelerometer yesterday. When he arrived the recording column of liquid would not move. After shaking, etc. it would record accelerations of motion in the correct direction, but had a zero error of .45. We, therefore, asked Mr. Dykes to bring it back to you. We hope you will be able to make it function correctly as we are in frequent need of the instrument since it avoids the necessity of making accurate calculations of the roll angle. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
