To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. Ey. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} ORIGINAL EFC1/AM6.12.29. X.7792. WATFORD EW6A MAGNETOS. X7792 Further to our EFC1/AD30.9.29. in which the detail results of an endurance test on a 66° range magneto were recorded, we have as a result of this, been much in touch with Messrs. North on the subject, having paid them a visit in this connection. We asked them to provide us with experimental magnetos with (a) Larger platinum points (b) Tungsten points. and sent two of the six magnetos in question back to them for the purpose, at the same time asking for these to be modified back to the more normal 60° range. We received in due course, one magneto fitted with each of the types of contact points referred to, which magnetos have been duly bench tested. In regard to EW6A magneto No.118718 of 60° range and fitted with tungsten contact points, my assistant's report WD.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}89 reads as follows :- "We have received from Messrs. North the above magneto for test along with another magneto No.118717 which has larger diameter platinum points. This magneto (No.118718) has been put through our general specification test with excellent results. | ||
