To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Cw W Ck.{Mr Clark} E4.1.20. ------- X.3776. - RE ADJUSTABLE COLLAPSABLE PISTON. It is desired to incorporate in the above a stop in as well as a stop out so that if the inertia load of the piston overcomes the springs pressure at very high speed the flap will not close inbbeyond a fixed point. This can be done by making room for a locked set screw as shewn in sketch. Feelers can be tried in thegpp and the end of the set screw can be dressed down in the vice after removing screw until the desired allowance for closing down or collapsing of say .005" to .010 is obtained. When drawing piston would you kindly put this in. The base of the spring may be spread and length added to the piston, as found necessary. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
