X. 6031. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} X.6031 re Horns. Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X.1168c Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}19/E22.12.30 Thanks for Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/ME.17.12.30. I have delayed expressing an opinion on the Bosch horn until I had made adequate tests. My views are that for use in the ordinary way in town it is excellent and has the great advantage of being less of a nerve shatterer and annoyance to other road users than the Klaxon. For touring purposes and long distance work at fairly high speeds we do not consider that it is sufficiently penetrating. I asked PN{Mr Northey} to make some special tests with this object in view. This he has done and he confirms the above. I should not, therefore, like to think that we were going to standardise a horn on the lines of the Bosch. I have instructed Barlow Mews to return to you to-day both the Bosch horn and the Klaxon vibrator which you lent me. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
