Attached herewith copy of a letter Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has received from Mr. Olley. We find that the unofficial correspondence we have with Mr. Olley is of immense value. General Motors at Detroit are the centre of motor-car development and on their research side they are able to anticipate development many years ahead. Owing to the rate of exchange, tariffs, and "Buy British" policy, very few of the better class American cars are now being imported, but those we have tried lately confirm that they are making tremendous progress and it is their development which we should watch.
