EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T7.11.28.

SS. {S. Smith} IGNITION WIRING.

We have got so far enough with our tests of Gloverite and Super-Glover H.T. cable (last reported in our EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T2.5.28) to know that Gloverite is not at all suitable, and even worse we think, than the old standard Glover cable which has been superseded by Maconit.

The super-Glover cable on the other hand appears equally good with Maconit.

A detail report of comparative tests of Gloverite, Super-Glover and Maconit will be issued in due course.

We are of the opinion that owing to the altered position of the wiring tubes on the SS. {S. Smith} engine, already referred to in our EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 1/T1.11.28, the first set of wiring to be instructed should be an all-standard set, and the second set to be instructed for the SS. {S. Smith} chassis should be a sandwich system of our present standard Maconit and this super-Glover, of which we have still a sufficient quantity for the half H.T. wiring of the car. Perhaps you will arrange for your instructions accordingly, as there appears some little prospect of the super-Glover cable having certain advantages over the Maconit. The prices, however, of the former as at present quoted is £19.10.0d per 1000 yards, as compared with £12.19.0d for the Maconit and £12.10.0d. for the old standard Glover.
